It seems the front runner for the name of the thing is arbarray (Ilya  
+ Andrew).

Thought I'd throw one more name suggestion into the ring: urefarray  
for unaligned reference array. This shows its commonality with  
refarray i.e. that both copy references and not copy values, and a  
"u" suffix or prefix is common enough in SSE code.

Awaiting thy verdict :-)
